VPK Paper has its own installation to generate electricity and steam, and provides the majority of its own water supply
The paper industry is energy intensive.
A lot of electric power is required to power the paper machines. The drying of paper requires a lot of steam.
Through the construction of the power plant VPK Paper can provide in its own energy requirements with a maximum recuperation of internal fuel, and a minimal impact on the environment.
In order to provide the production process with the required energy and steam, VPK Paper has a biomass plant, combined with a steam turbine and gas turbine. The total capacity of the energy production amounts herewith to 120 tonnes of steam per hour and 25 MW of electricity.
Following the introduction of biomass VPK Paper was awarded with green energy and cogeneration certificates.
